Possible strategies
- Golden cross: “50 SMA above the 200 SMA on the daily, cross at most 5 candles ago” to list stocks that just flipped into a long-term uptrend.
- Buy-the-dip: “price above the 200 SMA” plus “daily RSI below 40” to identify corrections within established trends.
- Breakout with volume: “price at a 20-candle high” plus “volume above its average” to keep only breakouts backed by real participation.
Market specifics
Stocks trade during defined sessions: roughly 9:00–17:30 (Paris time) for Euronext and Xetra, 15:30–22:00 for the NYSE and Nasdaq. Between sessions, earnings releases and news can create opening gaps that no order can trade through. Automated scans follow these hours: they fire at each candle close during the session, and the daily close remains the reference point for medium and long-term investors.
