The forex screener: majors and euro crosses

Watch the major currency pairs with precise technical rules, from M5 scalping to weekly trend following, e-mail alerts included.

Forex is the most liquid market in the world, yet it plays out on few instruments: a handful of pairs concentrate most of the flow. The screener tracks 10 major and cross pairs via Yahoo Finance and applies your technical rules across 18 timeframes, from one minute to monthly. Instead of keeping five charts open all day, you define your conditions once and automated scans e-mail you at every candle close where they trigger.

What you can screen

  • The dollar majors: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, USD/CHF, AUD/USD, USD/CAD and NZD/USD.
  • The euro crosses: EUR/GBP, EUR/JPY and EUR/CHF.
  • Each pair is available on all 18 timeframes, with cross-timeframe comparisons : for example an M15 condition filtered by the H4 trend.

Possible strategies

  • VWAP reversion: “price below VWAP on M15” plus “M15 RSI below 30” to spot intraday extremes likely to revert toward the session's average price.
  • Trend-filtered momentum: “20 EMA above the 50 EMA on H4” plus “bullish MACD cross on H1 at most 3 candles ago” to trade only with the current.
  • Volatility expansion: “H1 ATR above its average” to detect a pair waking up at the London or New York open.

Market specifics

Forex trades around the clock from Sunday evening to Friday evening, driven by three main sessions: Asia (Tokyo, Sydney), Europe (London) and America (New York). Volatility is not uniform: it peaks during the London–New York overlap and fades during the Asian session on European pairs. Macro releases (central banks, inflation, US jobs) can move prices violently within seconds. Your intraday scans are best read with the clock and the calendar in mind.

Forex is usually traded with leverage, which magnifies losses as well as gains. Validate your rules with backtests and practice risk-free with paper trading before taking any real position.
