Senkou Span B
The Senkou Span B is the midpoint of the last 52 periods' range, projected 26 periods ahead, forming the slow boundary of the Ichimoku cloud.
The Senkou Span B (second leading line) is computed as the midpoint of the last 52 periods' range: (52-period highest high + 52-period lowest low) / 2, projected 26 periods into the future. It is the slowest Ichimoku component: on a daily chart it draws on roughly two months of data and only moves when major extremes are exceeded. Together with the Senkou Span A, it forms the two boundaries of the cloud (Kumo).
How to read and use it
Because it moves slowly, the Senkou Span B produces long horizontal plateaus that act as major support and resistance levels: Ichimoku traders watch them as zones where price is likely to react. A flat Span B below price serves as a reference floor; above price, as a ceiling. The position of Span A relative to Span B determines the cloud's colour, bullish or bearish. In Screener.Trading, you can build rules comparing price against the Senkou Span B, for example to spot an upward cloud breakout on the timeframe of your choice.
